Personal Area Network

Presentations | English

Science has shown that the most successful people are often also those who rely heavily on the power of networking! Computer networking is the practice of transporting and exchanging data between nodes over a shared medium in an information system. A personal area network or PAN, is a computer network for interconnecting electronic devices within an individual’s workspace. PANs can be wired such as USB or FireWire, or they can be wireless such as infrared, ZigBee, Bluetooth and ultra-wideband, or UWB. The range of a PAN typically is a few meters. A PAN provides data transmission among devices such as computers, smartphones, tablets and personal digital assistance. PANs are efficient, cost-effective and convenient. PANs can be used for communication among the personal devices themselves or for connecting to a higher level network and the Internet where one master device takes up the role as gateway. One of the most common real-world examples of a PAN is the connection between a Bluetooth earpiece and a smartphone.
