Proverbs are something we use to make a difficult situation easier to understand. Proverbs are wise sayings that provide life advice. They are pearls of wisdom. Although proverbs are culturally specific, their meaning is universal; everyone can relate to them in some way and on some level. For almost every situation, there is a proverb. We may not always understand a large lecture, but we can easily understand a small proverb because the truth it conveys can span the globe. They can also increase the potency of what is being communicated. A burnt child dreads the fire has its meaning indicating that our past experiences will make us cautious and makes us think twice before doing something similar.
