Optical Fibre Communication

Presentations | English

Did you know about Optical fiber communication? The Optical fiber communication process transmits a signal in the form of light which is first converted into the light from electrical signals and transmitted, and then vice versa happens on the receiving side. The optical fiber is a device that works on the principle of total internal reflection by which light signals can be transmitted from one place to another with a negligible loss of energy. Optical fiber is used by telecommunications companies to transmit telephone signals, Internet communication, and cable television signals. It is also used in other industries, including medical, defense, government, industrial and commercial. Advantages of Fiber optics are: Higher bandwidth means faster speed, Longer transmission distances, Greater flexibility, Improved latency, and Stronger security. The basic components are the light signal transmitter, the optical fiber, and the photo-detecting receiver. Additional elements such as fiber and cable splicers and connectors, regenerators, beam splitters, and optical amplifiers are employed to improve the performance of the communication system.
