E-Books | Tamil

After the Chola dynasty and Chera dynasty, another important dynasty with Tamil lineage is the Pandiya Dynasty. They are also known as the Pandiyas of South India or to be specific, Madurai. Their national flag consisted of the picture of two fishes in a yellow background. They had their territory over large areas, including almost every part of South India and present day Sri Lanka. The Pandiyan Dyansty had their first capital at Korkai Port in the early historic period. The Chola dynasty was one of the longest ruling dynasties in the world history and is crowned as one of the three crowned kings of Tamilakam: Chola, Chera and Pandiya. Kadungon, also known as Thennavan, is one of the most powerful kings of Pandiyan dynasty. He is famous for reviving the Pandiyan Dyansty to South India. The dynasty had Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism as their regional religions, in which the Hinduism was the official religion. They spoke Tamil and is believed to have lineage over Madurai now.
