Main objectives of collective bargaining are: To foster a pleasant and cordial relationship between employer and employees, to equally safeguard the interests of both employer and employees and to ensure that the government intervention is maintained at a minimum level. Collective bargaining is an important element in industrial relations. It also helps to make the relationship between employees and employers smooth. A strong bond between the employers and employees contribute to the successful working of the company. Collective bargaining is a procedure by which employment related disputes are resolved cordially, peacefully and voluntarily by settlement between labour unions and managements. The collective bargaining in India remained limited in its scope and restricted in its coverage by a well defined legal structure. It broadly covers subjects and issues entering into the conditions and terms of employment. It is also concerned with the development of procedures for settlement of disputes arising between the workers and management.
