This Puzhu Pulikal song from the kammatipadam album, talks about how tribals or original habitants of the region near Ernakulam were driven out of their lands and houses by land sharks in the 70s and 80s. The song is essentially a question and answer between a father and son from the Pulaya community, which consists of primarily farm labourers who work in rice fields. The song begins with the son asking his father if the grain they harvest and the fields they work on are theirs, to which the father responds that nothing is theirs. The father goes on to add that the mountains, rivers, and backwaters are neither ours or anybody else's. Insects, worms, birds, elephants, wild creatures, Gods from various times, and we Pulayars all live dreadful lives on this earth and will all die a terrible end. A standard bus stop announcement can be heard near the end of the song. This could be a way of underlining the fact that the bus stop and its environs were previously pokkali fields where the Pulayars lived and worked.
