This book is a repetition of both the history and of the laws contained in the three foregoing books, which repetition Moses delivered to Israel a little before his death. The name Deuteronomy means “second law" or a "second edition" of the law. The book of Deuteronomy begins with a brief rehearsal of the most remarkable events that had befallen the Israelites since they came from Mount Sinai. The wonderful love of God to his church is also outlined in this book. The Book of Deuteronomy contains an elaborated and magnified interpretation of the laws which notifies each one of us to engrave God's law in our hearts.
