Nitya Chaitanya Yati was an Indian philosopher, psychologist, author, and poet best known for his Advaita Vedanta interpretations and literary criticism. He was a disciple of Nataraja Guru, Narayana Guru's successor. Yati wrote over 140 books in English and Malayalam, including the Psychology of Darsana Mala, a commentary on Narayana Guru's Darsana Mala. In 1977, the Kerala Sahitya Akademi presented him with its annual literary criticism prize. He left home as a travelling mendicant after graduating to become acquainted with the countryside and people of his birth country. India was undivided at the time. His wanderings carried him to practically every nook and crevice of the subcontinent, including cities and villages, of what is now India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. He met all of the great people of the subcontinent, including prominent leaders such as Mohandas Gandhi and renowned poets. He sat at the feet of several spiritual masters, including Sufi fakirs, Jain munis and Buddhist monks, as well as Hindu teachers like Ramana Maharshi and Nityananda.
