Physiology is the study of how the human body works. Neurophysiology is a branch of physiology and neuroscience that focuses on the functioning of the nervous system. It is the study of nerve cells (neurones) as they receive and transmit information. In this field, scientists investigate the central and peripheral nervous systems at the level of whole organs, cellular networks, single cells, or even subcellular compartments. Historically it has been dominated by electrophysiology—the electrical recording of neuronal events ranging from the molar (the electroencephalogram, EEG) to the cellular (intracellular recording of the properties of single neurons). The presentation gives in-depth knowledge on the field of Neurophysiology.
