Neela Varna Kanpeelikal is a song from the film "Manavatti". Manavaatti, released on April 10, 1964, is one of the Vayalar-Devarajan combination's finest musical hits. The social film with a Christian theme was supposed to be released for Easter, but it was postponed owing to technical issues. Especially in Malayalam and other South Indian languages, social stories with the heroine as the lead character who gives her life for the people around her have been popular. This was also the theme in Manavaatti. The film was directed by K.S. Sethumadhavan and produced by Raju M. Mathen under the banner of Thankam Movies. It was shot at Newton Studios. P. N. Menon's art direction, Ramaswami's cinematography, and N. Poklalath's editing all contributed to the film's success. Sathyan, Madhu, S.P. Pillai, Ragini, and K.R. Vijaya were among the celebrities on the list. This was one of the first films to include settlers in Kerala's mountain ranges as the backdrop, and the film followed the lingo used by Christian families in those areas.
"മണവാട്ടി" എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് നീലവർണ്ണ കൺപീലികൾ. 1964 ഏപ്രിൽ 10-ന് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ മണവാട്ടി വയലാർ-ദേവരാജൻ കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിലെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച സംഗീത ഹിറ്റുകളിലൊന്നാണ്. ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ പ്രമേയമുള്ള സോഷ്യൽ ഫിലിം ഈസ്റ്ററിന് റിലീസ് ചെയ്യാനിരുന്നെങ്കിലും സാങ്കേതിക കാരണങ്ങളാൽ മാറ്റിവെക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് മലയാളത്തിലും മറ്റ് ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യൻ ഭാഷകളിലും, ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ആളുകൾക്ക് വേണ്ടി ജീവൻ നൽകുന്ന നായിക കഥാപാത്രത്തെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സാമൂഹിക കഥകൾ ജനപ്രിയമാണ്. മണവാട്ടിയിലും ഇതായിരുന്നു പ്രമേയം. ചിത്രം സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തത് കെ. സേതുമാധവൻ, തങ്കം മൂവീസിന്റെ ബാനറിൽ രാജു എം.മാത്തൻ നിർമ്മിക്കുന്നു. ന്യൂട്ടൺ സ്റ്റുഡിയോയിൽ വെച്ചായിരുന്നു ചിത്രീകരണം. പി.എൻ.മേനോന്റെ കലാസംവിധാനവും രാമസ്വാമിയുടെ ഛായാഗ്രഹണവും എൻ.പൊക്ലാലത്തിന്റെ എഡിറ്റിംഗും സിനിമയുടെ വിജയത്തിന് സഹായകമായി. സത്യൻ, മധു, എസ്.പി.പിള്ള, രാഗിണി, കെ.ആർ. വിജയ എന്നിവരും പട്ടികയിൽ ഇടംപിടിച്ച പ്രമുഖരായിരുന്നു. കേരളത്തിലെ പർവതനിരകളിലെ കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരെ പശ്ചാത്തലമായി ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയ ആദ്യ സിനിമകളിൽ ഒന്നായിരുന്നു ഇത്, ആ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ കുടുംബങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഭാഷയാണ് സിനിമ പിന്തുടരുന്നത്.
