Nazism and Rise of Hitler

Presentations | English

Nazism is the ideology and practices associated with Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party in Nazi Germany. During Hitler's rise to power in 1930s Europe, it was frequently referred to as Hitlerism. Nazism is a form of fascism, with disdain for liberal democracy and the parliamentary system. It incorporates intense antisemitism, anti-communism, scientific racism, and the use of eugenics into its creed. Hitler's unique oratory skills combined with his strong personality and leadership were vital in him coming to power in 1933. He became the chancellor of Germany and his Nazi government soon assumed dictatorial powers. After Germany’s defeat in World War II (1939-45), the Nazi Party was outlawed and many of its top officials were convicted of war crimes related to the murder of some six million European Jews during the Holocaust.
