We are living things. We have the ability to prevent or reduce the presence of disease. Plants also have this ability. They have a defence mechanism. Its immune system recognizes enemy molecules and respond through effective pathways against pathogens. Resistance protects from pathogens in two ways. By pre-formed structures and chemicals and by infection induced response of the immune system Plants have resistance genes. Disease resistant plants can be developed through Genetic Engineering.
