National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is a government-established organization. It is the world's biggest space research organization, which has constructed numerous successful space missions and projects that have circled humans around 150 times in Earth orbit. Founded in 1958, NASA is headquartered in Washington. The National Advisory Council on Aviation (NACA) was officially formed in 1958. Smithsonian Institution Secretary Charles D. Snyder attempts to put the United States ahead of European nations in aviation. NACA was formed in 1915 under Walcott's leadership. On January 31, 1958, Explorer 1 (officially Satellite 1958 Alpha) was launched into orbit by NASA. Vernal, an American resident after the Great War, is now known as the 'Father of American Space Program'. NASA has introduced various projects as part of their research. Some of the important ones, to mention a few, are Project Mercury, Project Gemini, Apollo program, Skylab, Space shuttle program and International Space Station
