Indian aerospace engineer S. Nambi Narayanan, an employee of the Indian Space Research Organization, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year 2019. While at ISRO, he oversaw the cryogenics branch and played a key role in the development of the Vikas engine. Nambi Narayanan is in news, not only for his achievements but also for being detained in 1994 after being unjustly accused of spying. He established his innocence in 1998.
