Nahum 01

Audio | English

The book of Nahum contains the Jewish Bible and the Old Testament, the early portion of the Christian Bible. It ranks seventh in most biblical texts and seventh in the category of "minor prophets" which includes 12 minor prophecies. It "celebrates" the fall of Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian Empire, during the Babylonian occupation in 612 BC. Nahum, who conquered the divided state of northern Israel in Palestine in 722, enslaved numerous of its citizens and enslaved the Jewish Empire under the hegemonic responsibility, rejoiced in the fall of that hostile empire as evidence of God's control over human history. A shrine in the city of Mosul in northern Iraq is said to have pertained to Nahom instead of Nineveh, but the myth associated with the Prophet dates back to the 16th century. According to these signs, This work is thought to have been written between BC 661 and 612.
