Muthukal vilayum kadale' is a song from the drama Kuttavum Shikshayum. G Devarajan master composed the song's music and ONV Kurup wrote the lyrics. The majority of the successful plays presented by KPAC, Kerala's most well-known professional theatrical troupe, were adapted into films with the same titles. Kuttavum Shikshayum was adapted into a Malayalam film as well. M. Masthan directed Kuttavum Shikshayum, which was produced by K. S. R. Moorthy and released in 1976 in Malayalam. Kamal Haasan, Sridevi, Bahadoor, and K. P. Ummer star in the film.
കുട്ടവും ശിക്ഷയും എന്ന നാടകത്തിലെ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് 'മുത്തുകൾ വിളയും കടലേ'. ഒഎൻവി കുറുപ്പിന്റെ വരികൾക്ക് ജി ദേവരാജൻ മാസ്റ്ററാണ് സംഗീതം നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായ പ്രൊഫഷണൽ നാടക ട്രൂപ്പായ കെപിഎസി അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു വിജയിച്ച നാടകങ്ങളിൽ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും അതേ പേരിലുള്ള സിനിമകളാക്കി മാറ്റി. കുറ്റവും ശിക്ഷയും എന്ന ചിത്രം മലയാള സിനിമയിലും രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തി. കെ.എസ്.ആർ.മൂർത്തി നിർമ്മിച്ച് 1976-ൽ മലയാളത്തിൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ കുറ്റവും ശിക്ഷയും എം.മസ്താൻ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തു. കമൽഹാസൻ, ശ്രീദേവി, ബഹദൂർ, കെ പി ഉമ്മർ എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന താരങ്ങൾ.
