Mizoram is a state in northeastern India with Aizawl as its capital and seat of government. The name of the state is derived from "Mizo," the native inhabitants' self-described name, and "Ram," which means "land" in Mizo. As a result, "Mizo-ram" signifies "Mizo land." It is the southernmost landlocked state in India's northeast, sharing borders with three of the Seven Sister States, namely Tripura, Assam, and Manipur. The state also has a 722-kilometer border with Bangladesh and Myanmar, two neighbouring countries. Mizoram is known as the "Land of Blue Mountains," and it is home to some of the top attractions in the country, including verdant woods with bamboo groves, vivid fauna, towering cliffs, and breathtaking waterfalls. It features a number of notable contemporary folklore landmarks as well as picturesque villages of stilted dwellings. The peaks and hills are bathed in a magnificent sea of dawn mist. This is the home of the Highlanders, or Mizos, who are kind and easygoing by nature.
