Mintzberg's Managerial Roles

"A manager can turn out to be an efficient leader only through experience and practical knowledge. The roles he/she needs to play every day in an organisation and the responsibilities assigned upon him/her differs with different organization. Henry Mintzberg is a Canadian Management expert, clearly listed managerial roles to become effective leaders. He identified 10 roles and classified it into 3 categories, they are interpersonal roles, informational roles and decisional roles. Under interpersonal, the manager is the Figureheads, a Leader and Liaison. As Figurehead, a manager is responsible for official and social duties that reflect status and authority in an organization. Informational roles are Monitor, Disseminator and Spokesperson. A disseminator communicates useful information to team members and subordinates. Decisional roles are Entrepreneur, Disturbance Handler, Resource Allocator and Negotiator. More information about the topic can be understood from the presentation."
