The words “maybe” and “may be” point to the context of possibility in real life situations. “Maybe” is an adverb that simply means possibly or perhaps as in the sentence, “Maybe we could go for a ride tomorrow.”; whereas “may be” is a verb phrase and has two words which points to the fact that something might happen or come to be. For example, “This may be the last time we ever meet.”
