Marine Conservation

Presentations | English

Oceans are affected negatively due to a large number of problems like pollution, eutrophication, climate changes, acidification, sedimentation overfishing etc. Protecting oceans is important for the survival of all living organisms including human beings. To make sure of the wellbeing of human beings, preserve marine ecosystems. For a longer period, it was assumed that marine bodies are not affected by human intervention. But the truth is no area remains untouched. Oceans host about more than eighty percent of the world's biodiversity. Overfishing has reduced fish populations. It’s a threat, as the supply of nutritious food is not available for under water organisms. Also, the marine food webs tend to change. Plastics form the floating rubber patches and oceanic acidification affects the survival of marine ecosystems. Coral reefs, seagrass meadows and mangroves which are the major oceanic ecosystems are degrading. The topic can be understood more from the PowerPoint presentation.
