B Vasantha is the singer of the song "Mannil Pennayi" from the movie Thara. B. Vasantha is a playback singer from South India. She has won the Kalaimamani and the Ugadi awards at the state level. The lyrics were written by Vayalar Ramavarma and the music was composed by G. Devarajan. Thara is a Malayalam film from 1972, directed by M. Krishnan Nair and produced by M. Kunchacko. The film stars Prem Nazir, Sathyan, Sharada, and Usha in pivotal roles. The majority of Devarajan's successful songs were written by Vayalar Ramavarma. The Vayalar-Devarajan combo was the most successful team until Vayalar's death in the mid-1970s. Malayalis still recall hundreds of the team's songs fondly.
