“Maalini Nadiyil” is a beautiful song from the Malayalam movie Shakuntala, which was released in the year 1965. This song was sung together by the playback singers Ganagandharvan K J Yesudas and P. Susheela. The lyrics for this song were written by Vayalar Ramavarma. This song was composed by the music director G. Devarajan and K. Raghavan. The film actors Prem Nazir, Kalaikkal Kumaran, Sathyan, Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair, Prema and Aranmula Ponnamma played the lead character roles in this movie.
1965-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ശകുന്തള എന്ന മലയാളചലച്ചിത്രത്തിലെ മനോഹരമായ ഒരു ഗാനമാണ് “മാലിനി നദിയിൽ”. പിന്നണി ഗായകരായ ഗാനഗന്ധർവൻ കെ ജെ യേശുദാസും പി.സുശീലയും ചേർന്നാണ് ഈ ഗാനം ആലപിച്ചത്. വയലാർ രാമവർമയാണ് ഈ ഗാനത്തിന്റെ വരികൾ എഴുതിയത്. ഈ ഗാനം ചിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തിയത് സംഗീത സംവിധായകൻ ജി.ദേവരാജനും കെ.രാഘവനും ചേർന്നാണ്. ചലച്ചിത്ര അഭിനേതാക്കളായ പ്രേം നസീർ, കലയ്ക്കൽ കുമാരൻ, സത്യൻ, തിക്കുറിശ്ശി സുകുമാരൻ നായർ, പ്രേമ, ആറന്മുള പൊന്നമ്മ എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചത്.
