The film is well-known for its steamy moments. Gopalan, played by M. G. Soman, was a cunning villain. I. V. Sasi won the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Malayalam, and Kamal Haasan got the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
മലയാറ്റൂർ മലഞ്ചരിവിലെ എന്ന ഗാനം ഈറ്റ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിലെതായിരുന്നു. കെ ജെ യേശുദാസും പി സുശീലയുമാണ് ഈ ഗാനം ആലപിച്ചത്. യൂസഫലി കേച്ചേരിയുടെ വരികൾക്ക് ജി.ദേവരാജൻ സംഗീതം പകർന്നു. ഐ വി ശശി സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത കമൽഹാസൻ, മധു, ഷീല, സീമ എന്നിവർ അഭിനയിച്ച മലയാളം ചിത്രമാണ് ഈറ്റ. ഷീലയും സീമയും കമൽഹാസനായി വീഴുന്ന ഒരു ത്രികോണ പ്രണയത്തെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് ഇത്. ഈ സിനിമ അതിന്റെ നീരാവി നിമിഷങ്ങൾക്ക് പേരുകേട്ടതാണ്. എം ജി സോമൻ അവതരിപ്പിച്ച ഗോപാലൻ തന്ത്രശാലിയായ വില്ലനായിരുന്നു. മലയാളത്തിലെ മികച്ച സംവിധായകനുള്ള ഫിലിംഫെയർ അവാർഡ് ഐ.വി.ശശിയും മികച്ച നടനുള്ള ഫിലിംഫെയർ അവാർഡ് കമൽഹാസനും ലഭിച്ചു.
