“Major Chandrakanth” is a 1966 Indian Tamil language drama film produced by A. V. Meyyappan and directed by K. Balachander. The film is based on his play of the same name. Major Chandrakanth was released on 11 November 1966. The film stars Major Sundarajan , anagesh, R. Muthuraman , A. V. M. Rajan and Jayalalitha. Cinematography was done by S. Maruti Rao. It revolves around a retired and blind major who gives asylum to a fugitive wanted for committing murder, unaware that the victim was his younger son.
എ.വി. മെയ്യപ്പൻ നിർമ്മിച്ച് കെ. ബാലചന്ദർ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത് 1966-ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ തമിഴ് ഭാഷാ നാടക ചലച്ചിത്രമാണ് "മേജർ ചന്ദ്രകാന്ത്". അതേ പേരിലുള്ള അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നാടകത്തെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയാണ് ഈ സിനിമ. മേജർ ചന്ദ്രകാന്ത് 1966 നവംബർ 11-ന് ആണ് പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയത് മേജർ സുന്ദരരാജൻ, അനഗേഷ്, ആർ.മുത്തുരാമൻ, എ.വി.എം.രാജൻ, ജയലളിത എന്നിവരാണ് ചിത്രത്തിലെ അഭിനേതാക്കൾ. എസ് മാരുതി റാവുവാണ് ഛായാഗ്രഹണം നിർവ്വഹിച്ചത്. വിരമിച്ച, അന്ധനായ ഒരു മേജറെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റിയാണ് കഥ നടക്കുന്നത്.
