Magento is an open-source e-commerce web application that began on March 31, 2008. It was established by Varian with the help of programmers in the open-source community but is only owned by Magento Inc. It uses the Enterprise Attribute Value (EAV) database model to store data. Magento was officially launched in early 2007. Many months were postponed, on August 31, 2007, the first public beta version was released. Verin, the owner of Magento, previously worked at osCommerce. The variant was originally planned to take out osCommerce but later decided to rename it Magento. In its early years, the platform has frequently won the "Best Open Source Software Awards" and the "SaurasForge Community Choice Awards". In February 2011, eBay declared openly that it had invested in Magento, which owns 49% of the company, in 2010. The official updated version of Magento was declared in 2015. Named Magento 2, it is the best Magento version ever. In May 2018, Adobe announced that it would acquire $ 1.68 billion to integrate its corporate CMS platform, Adobe Enterprise Cloud. The accession was finalized on June 19, 2018. The Magento trading platform is used by over 250,000 merchants around the world, accounting for approximately 30% of the total market share.
