Dhu al-Hijjah often written Zu al-Hijjah, is the Islamic calendar's twelfth and final month. It is a very holy month in the Islamic calendar, as it is the month of the ajj (Pilgrimage) and the festival of the Sacrifice. "Possessor of the Pilgrimage" or "The Month of the Pilgrimage" is how "Dhu al-Hijjah" is translated. During this month, Muslim pilgrims from all over the world gather in Mecca to pay their respects to the Kaaba. This month's Hajj falls on the eighth, ninth, and 10 days. On the ninth of the month, the Day of Arafah is observed. The "Festival of Sacrifice," Eid al-Adha, begins on the tenth day and lasts for ten days.
