Named after the Krishna River that flows through it and finally joins the the Bay of Bengal, Krishna District is one of the most popular districts of Andhra Pradesh. Land of the famous Kanaka Durga Temple at Vijayawada, the ancient Mogalrajapuram caves, the Prakasam Barrage and a museum that was originally built as a Centenary Celebrations of Queen Victoria's life and reign. Apart from this, one can visit the Koneru Bird sanctuary, an isalnd resort in the midst of the River Krishna, a 14th century fort at Kondapalli.
