"Nilamorukkal" is a word related to agriculture. The first rains fall on the hot, scorched fields of the month of Meenam. This is called "Padu Mazha". "നിലമൊരുക്കൽ" എന്നാൽ കൃഷിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഒരു വാക്കാണ്. മീന മാസത്തിലെ ചൂടേറ്റു പൊള്ളി കിടക്കുന്ന വയലിലേക്ക് ആദ്യത്തെ മഴ പെയ്യുന്നു. ഇതിനെ "പടുമഴ" എന്ന് പറയുന്നു. ഈ മഴയോടുകൂടി നിലങ്ങൾ നല്ല പരുവം കൊള്ളും. ഈ സമയം രണ്ടു ച്ചാൽ കൃഷിക്കാർ ഉഴുതുമറിച്ചിടും. കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനം ഇല്ലെങ്കിൽ അടുത്ത 15 മുതൽ 20 ദിവസത്തിനകം അടുത്ത മഴയും പെയ്യും. ഇതിനെ കാടുതലുതാണ് മഴ എന്നും പറയും. ഈ മഴയത്തു ഞാറിനല്ല പൊടി ഇടും. അടുത്ത ശക്തമായ മഴയത്തു ഈ ഞാറിനെ പറിച്ചു നടും.
