Poems, novels, dramas, journals, magazines... there would be no one who wouldn't have read any one of these at least once in their lives. Literature is humanity talking to itself. It's mirrors the society. It is an umbrella term, but is also used more narrowly for writings specifically considered to be an art form, especially prose fiction, drama, poetry, essays etc. Generally, literature can be divided into two- Fiction and Non-fiction. Fictional literature is imaginary and is based on the writer's imagination rather than reality. Poetry, drama, fiction(stories) are examples. Non-fictional literature is factual writing citing real places, events, characters, times etc. Autobiographies, essays, journals and magazines etc are examples.
