The hotel was designed by architect Geoffrey Bawa which is a blend of modern architecture with jungle green roof and plantations. The site offers an eco-friendly luxury in the middle of tropical forest, calm waters and mountain rock. Heritance Kandalama is a five star eco conceptual hotel in Sri Lanka, which is a blend of heritage and wildlife. The building is architectural masterpiece which is set within rock formations and views across the Sigiriya rock. It is shaped like an outspread wings of a bird with follows the line of the cliff and emerges. It rises upto seven floors, resembles to be an extension of the mountain side. There is real life animal presence around the building as there is screen of vegetative surroundings. Sculptures of a metal owl, wooden elephants and a stone cobra have indulged more beauty to this building.
