The job of a tour manager ensures life on road is smooth. That is simply getting the band to safe venues or hotels, managing income and dealing with promoters and managers. They are responsible for caring the entire tour. Concert touring involves complex financial and legal arrangements to organize logistics, personnel, communication and schedule. Usually they work as freelancers who work on tour by tour basis. The manager is given with an itinerary according to which he/she manages the financial, advancing and on the road activities. Transportation and lodging arrangements, see to it that musicians and crew get to next stop safely, backstage hospitality maintenance etc are also checked by these managers. Whenever a problem arises, like a dispute with a promoter or a passport emergency, the job of the tour manager is to resolved the issue and restore peace.
