Job Descriptions - Sterile Processing Technician

Templates | English

Central service technicians, also called sterile processing technicians or central service (CS) professionals, play a critical role in preventing infection by sterilizing, cleaning, processing, assembling, storing, and distributing medical supplies. While sterile processing programs can sometimes take up to two full years to complete, you could earn your diploma in as little as 42 weeks with an accelerated program. That means by this time next year, you could be working in an exciting new field with great long-term prospects! Sterile Processing is not for everyone, one has to be caring for the patient well being, it is a fast pace environment with a lot of procedures needing to be followed and applied for patient safety. The time it takes to become a sterile processing technician is relatively short for a career in health care. All personnel entering the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and sterile storage areas should wear clean uniforms that are provided by and donned at the facility.
