Radiologic technologists specialize in x-ray and computed tomography (CT) imaging. Radiologic technologists, also known as radiographers, perform x rays and other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients. MRI technologists operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to create diagnostic images. How long does it take to become a radiologic technologist? Typically this takes anywhere from sixteen months to two years to complete. Many programs are very flexible, able to assist students who simultaneously work full-time work schedules. Both radiology tech and nursing are challenging courses. The Bureau of Labour Statistics indicated that radiologic technicians usually earn an associate’s or bachelor’s degree to prepare for their careers. Radiographers work around the clock, working out of hours in evenings, nights and weekends, in addition to the normal days’ work. You could be on your feet for long periods, working in often stressful situations such as busy A&E departments, or dealing with challenging or stressful situations.
