A laundry attendant washes and dries soiled clothes or linens. As a laundry worker, your job responsibilities include collecting soiled linens or clothing, sorting laundry by color and fabric type, performing stain treatments, and operating laundry machines to wash and dry items. Laundry attendants use various techniques to clean clothing and other textiles and to support the operations of the facilities in which they work. Laundry attendants usually work in self or full-service laundromats that are available to the public, or in hotels. To be successful as a laundry attendant, you should demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Top-notch candidates will consult with customers to discuss supplementary laundering-related services that may be of use to them. A good laundry attendant must have good customer service skills. You must also have basic skills in taking inventory, handling dry cleaning equipment, and keeping the laundry room clean. You do not require more than a high school diploma to become a laundry attendant.
