What are humans if they don't have immunity? Immunology is the study of the immune system, commonly known as the body's defence system, and it is a large topic of biology. Immunology is the study of the immune system's normal and pathological functions. An immunologist is a scientist who specialises in the study of the immune system in people and animals. The immune system protects the body from sickness. The work could be done in a lab or with patients. Among the responsibilities in laboratory work are:carrying out groundbreaking medical research, conceiving, planning, and carrying out controlled trials and experiments, employing proper analytical approaches to develop and test hypotheses, authoring reports, evaluations, and publications analysing and interpreting data, submitting an application for research funding, keeping up to date with latest research in the field by visiting conferences all over the world. Management and multidisciplinary teams will be updated on the immunologist's results on a regular basis. In pre-clinical research and development, they work with other scientists to produce modified human and murine immune cells as well as cell-based assays. To be effective in this profession, you must strike a balance between working independently and collaborating with others to solve scientific problems.
