The liver is a very important organ in humans. It is so vital that we would perish if it stopped working even for a single day. Hepatologists are doctors who specialise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. Cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, and hepatitis are all illnesses that afflict millions of people each year throughout the world. Hepatologists are generally called in when internal medicine doctors and gastroenterologists are faced with complex liver disorders, according to "Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine." A doctor may refer a patient to a hepatologist in less urgent instances. A doctor may refer a patient to a hepatologist in less urgent instances, and the hepatologist will see the patient in his or her office. When very ill people are admitted to the hospital, liver problems can emerge. In such circumstances, the patient's main treatment team will request a consultation with a hepatologist. The patient will subsequently be examined by a hepatologist, who will provide suggestions. The primary treatment team then determines which of the recommendations it wants to pursue, based on any additional medical issues the patient may have, and is responsible for putting them into action.
