"A front desk agent is responsible for checking hotel guests in and out of their rooms. They are responsible for ensuring that every single guest has an enjoyable experience at the hotel. Because of the wide variety of work that needs to get done at a hotel, there are a great many positions and responsibility levels. Therefore, those who work at a hotel front desk successfully for an appropriate amount of time are often promoted up the ranks. Certainly, working at the front desk can be a stressful job as we are dealing with guests who are arriving after a long day of travel disruptions and frustrations and therefore prone to over-reaction to even the smallest challenges. The key to reducing turnover starts at the top with you as a Front Office Manager. The lobby may be the first thing a hotel guest sees when checking in, but the front desk agent is the first person he or she meets."
