When you feel sick, you go to the doctor and get medicine, but how much better would it be if the doctor and the patient had a personal relationship? Adults and children receive excellent medical care from family physicians. They assess, treat, and assist prevent common illnesses and injuries in the general public. Family physicians are special in that they can care for all members of a family, regardless of age or gender. They diagnose ailments, administer immunizations, write prescriptions, and provide health and wellness advice on a daily basis. A family medicine doctor's responsibilities include performing annual tests and monitoring patients for illnesses that may or may not have symptoms. Family medicine professionals who are familiar with a patient's personal and family medical history have a better understanding of what to look for in order to practise preventative medicine and assure the patient's general health and well-being. They also offer health and wellness counselling. It's likely that when people say "my doctor," they're referring to a primary care physician. Despite the fact that their specialty is "family medicine," they may not always treat the entire family, but they do on occasion. One doctor may service a whole community in smaller towns or rural locations
