In general, facilities managers are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of an organization’s buildings, ensuring that they meet legal requirements and health and safety standards. Facility managers (FMs) operate across different business functions, working on both a strategic and operational level. Facilities managers are in charge of a budget and must negotiate with outside vendors for supplies, repairs, and other measures. You Don’t need to have a specific degree for this position, but a background in building services and engineering, office management, or administration is preferred. Facility maintenance is the people and processes that keep your commercial building running smoothly, from the infrastructure to the assets and equipment in and outside of it. Maintenance leads organize the schedule and the team, with the techs closing out both preventive maintenance and on-demand work orders.
