Job Descriptions - Endodontist

Templates | English

Endodontists are dental specialists that diagnose and treat various conditions that affect the tooth pulp as well as the nerves and tissue in and around the tooth root. They primarily perform non-surgical root canal treatments, endodontic surgery, and apicoectomies. Patients consult an endodontist when physicians or dentists have not been able to find the cause of their oral or facial pain, are experiencing a complication from previous treatments or have a problem with a knocked-out or fractured tooth. These specialists work with unique equipment and materials, such as digital radiographs and 3-D imaging machines that allow them to take detailed photographs of the root canal or any other infected areas. The endodontist’s responsibilities include performing intentional replantation procedures as needed, advising patients on post-surgery dental care, and prescribing suitable pain-relief medication. To be successful as an endodontist, you should be able to keep abreast of the latest developments in endodontics to ensure that patients receive the best treatment possible.
