Most economists are interested in the practical application of economic policy in a specific field, such as finance, labour, agriculture, transportation, real estate, the environment, natural resources, energy, or health. They advise businesses, insurance companies, banks, securities firms, industry and trade groups, labour unions, government agencies, and others based on their understanding of economic relationships. Economists who are primarily theorists, on the other hand, may utilise mathematical models to construct ideas about the origins of business cycles and inflation, or the consequences of unemployment and tax legislation. Economists are concerned with understanding and interpreting financial matters, among other subjects.
