A Dietary Aide is responsible for cooking meals for medical patients and older people. Their role helps patients fulfil specific dietary requirements to promote their health and wellbeing. Their duties include preparing and cooking food dishes, delivering food to particular patients and assisting the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean, sanitary workplace. Dietary Aides work alongside Dietitians, Dietary Managers and Chefs to help prepare food for residents and patients. They must be competent and conscientious with a customer-oriented approach. The dietary aide talks to patients about their dietary preferences in order to provide them with healthy meals they enjoy. The dietary aide's responsibilities include guiding people according to their dietary requirements and their wish to lose or gain weight, helping prepare healthy food, helping with cleaning and maintaining kitchens and dining areas, delivering food to residents, and taking and maintaining kitchen stock. The dietary aide will work to ensure that patients receive food that is safe for them to eat and that meets their individual nutrition guidelines.
