The Computer Tomography (C.T) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross sectional images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders. Also known as CT technicians, CT technologists take diagnostic images of patients’ internal structures using computerized tomography equipment. They ensure that patients are correctly positioned and closely monitored during CT scans. Their work helps locate internal injuries and diagnose diseases. CT technologists prepare patients for exams by answering their questions and positioning them for minimal radiation exposure. People with good interpersonal skills and a desire to use technology for patient care will thrive in this role. A CT technologist should be in good health because manoeuvring equipment and patients who are disabled may pose physical challenges. CT scanners emit radiation which can be harmful for the technologist and patient if proper safety procedures are not followed. CT scan technologists’ jobs are most often located in hospitals and diagnostic imaging centres.
