Company nurses provide basic healthcare services to a company’s employees. A company nurse is a qualified nurse who is employed by a company. They provide general first aid to employees when required, assess employee health risks, and promote employee health. They are also known as occupational health and safety officer, or occupational health nurse. Company nurses work to improve customer retention and lower company healthcare costs. They typically work a standard full-time 8 to 5 shift and report directly to an office manager. For the most part, company nurses work in a typical office environment but they may also travel to employees’ homes if necessary. Company nurses may hold different responsibilities based on their experience and education. However, they typically perform a few core tasks during their shifts such as providing basic healthcare, administering prescribed medication and treatment, organizing employee physicals, raising healthcare awareness and reporting on employee health. Candidates who work well with people and care deeply about their health make good fits for this role.
