They instead employ psychological treatments including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychoanalytic therapy. Before they may meet patients and apply these procedures, clinical psychologists must generally obtain a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical psychology. In certain states and provinces, however, a master's degree is sufficient.
