The chiropractic assistant is in charge of aiding the chiropractor in the operation of a chiropractic clinic. When patients enter the clinic, the chiropractic assistant will meet them and make them feel welcome and at ease. The chiropractic assistant will handle all phone calls and inquiries. He or she will plan appointments and keep the chiropractor's calendar up to date. When payment is due, the chiropractic assistant will explain the fees and receive payment, code and bill insurance claims, or collect on past-due accounts on a regular basis. He or she will provide invoices, treatment instructions, and teaching materials. The chiropractic assistant may even be professionally educated to help position patients for x-rays or to take the x-rays themselves. They may also collect and record the patient's vital signs as well as his or her medical history. The chiropractic assistant may also help the chiropractor with chiropractic therapies such spinal adjustments, acupuncture, electric stimulation, massage, or ultrasound.
