A Certified Diabetes Educator is a health practitioner who specialises in diabetes education, support, and promotion. The purpose is to assist persons living with diabetes and/or prediabetes in developing personalised goals to improve their treatment and health outcomes. CDEs operate in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, small offices, wellness centres, pharmacies, and firms that manufacture diabetes technology and medical devices. The CDE's role varies based on the work environment. CDEs frequently provide direct patient care, such as education and support, in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings. CDEs are also frequently involved in the oversight of authorised DSME programmes. Certified Diabetes Educators help people manage their diabetes by partnering and developing a personalised strategy. They address the particular features of a person's life that have an influence on diabetes treatment. All aspects of diabetic self-care are covered, including dietary, physical activity, blood glucose monitoring, medication administration, and even stress management.
