According to the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA), "cancer registrars collect a detailed description of each cancer patient's history, diagnosis, therapy, and disease status." The work of registrars leads to better information that is employed in cancer care and, eventually, cures." The majority of cancer registrars work at hospitals. Other places of employment include national or state cancer registries, standard-setting organisations, government agencies, software suppliers, pharmaceutical businesses, insurance agencies, and recruiting services. Some cancer registrars work for themselves. The Registrar's New Role An estimated 7,300 cancer registrars are now employed, and by 2021, it is expected that at least 800 more registrars would be required to satisfy demand. The expanded job of the cancer registrar is one factor impacting both supply and demand.
