The goal of behaviour therapy is to educate a person tools or skills to help them change their behaviour. A bashful individual at a party, for example, may have negative ideas and sentiments about themselves. They may also be socially inept. Behaviour therapy teaches people more helpful behaviours, assists patients in developing healthier thought patterns and behaviours, analyses patients' behavioural patterns to diagnose mental health disorders, develops appropriate treatment programmes based on patients' diagnoses, and adjusts treatment programmes as needed. Behavior therapists work with patients to help them build the skills and mental patterns they need to overcome harmful or maladaptive habits. They may run their own businesses or work in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation institutions, schools, or jail camps. To be a good behaviour therapist, you must treat patients with compassion, patience, and understanding.
