“Irayimman ThampiyudeAttakathakal” is a collection of three Kathakali Texts of Irayimman Thampi – ‘Keechaka Vadham,’ ‘Uthara Swayamvaram,’ ‘Dakshayagam.’ The book was published in June 1997 by Kerala Sahitya Akademi. Iravivarman Thampi, better known as Irayimman Thampi (1782 – 1856), was an Indian Carnatic musician, music composer and poet from the Kingdom of Travancore. He was a vocalist in the court of Swathi Thirunal. His compositions include the lullaby ‘Omanathinkal Kidavo,’ one of the most popular lullabies in Malayalam. Thampi’s contributions include ‘kirtanas,’ ‘varnas,’ and ‘padams’ and has been published as books. The commentary for the book is done by K. P. Narayana Pisharotti. After the great poets Unnayivariyar and Kunjan Nambiyar was the great artist who made the cultural space of Kerala shine brighter.
